The best way to get started in an Active Learning space is to go and play with the room. Experiencing the technology and environment will help you become familiar with the space and think about how to utilize it in your lessons.
Because Active Learning Environments are so flexible, what works for one person may not work for you. Here are some general tips that you may find helpful:
- Whenever possible, arrive a few minutes early to get everything set-up. This includes room layouts, technology setup, and testing what you plan on using during the class.
- If you require the classroom to be in a certain configuration at the beginning of class, enlist the help of your students! Set the layout expectation at the beginning of the semester and encourage their assistance.
- If something isn't working well in the space or needs to be repaired, please inform the Service Desk. They can be dialed using the phone near the front of the room.
