Today we're welcoming our newest SNAP-Ed Program Assistant, Willie Swift to the Center. Take a moment to learn more about his path to the Swetland Center in the interview below.
What is your role and what projects will you be working on? My role is SNAP-ED Program Assistant II and my projects will include direct and indirect nutrition and health instruction for people eligible for SNAP.
Where are you from? What is your background?
I'm from Cleveland, OH and my background is in Community/Public Health, Monitoring and Evaluation, Community Engagement and Partnerships.
What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
Joining the Swetland Center excites me the most because I will have the opportunity to utilize my expertise, skillset and knowledge in community engagement and partnership building as well as provide a direct service to the community on nutrition and physical activity.
What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore? My favorite outdoor space in Cleveland are the Cleveland Metroparks. I would like to further explore the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Is there a piece of advice have you been given or a quote/statement that is significant to you? A piece of advice that I have been given is to never try and measure up to someone else and to focus on your own life and goals. Comparing yourself to others will steal the joy out of obtaining your own goals.
