Megan Milo, M.Ed.

Join us in welcoming Megan Milo, M.Ed. to the Swetland Center. Megan is joining the Center as a SNAP-Ed Program Assistant. Take a moment to learn more about her in the interview below.

What is your role and what projects will you be working on?
My role is SNAP-Ed Program Assistant II and my projects will include direct and indirect nutrition and health instruction for people eligible for SNAP.

Where are you from? What is your background in?
I am from Akron, Ohio and my background is in Early Childhood Education.

What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I am excited to join the Swetland Center and begin a new phase of my educational journey combining my passions for teaching, community building, and healthy living. I am also honored to join the brilliant members of the Swetland team and contribute to the overall goal of strengthening positive outcomes between environment and the community.

What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
My favorite outdoor spaces include the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, The Rocky River Reservation, and The Bath Nature Preserve. My goal is to hike every trail of the CVNP!

Is there a piece of advice have you been given or a quote that is significant to you?
One of my favorite quotes is by Dr. James P. Comer, "No significant learning occurs without significant relationships." A  professor in my undergraduate education classes at Xavier University championed this quote. The words stuck with me as I worked with young students during my time as an early childhood educator, and later with adult students. I hope to continue to live out this message as I move forward connecting with the community through my educational work with SNAP-Ed.
