Emily Nelson is a Research Associate focusing on Data Infrastrucutre at the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health. She earned a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Infectious Disease Management, Intervention and Community Practice from the University of Pittsburgh and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Policy and Management from Kent State University. Emily's research interests include health equity, mental health, food systems and education, and her previous research focused on utilizing and developing new methods of data analysis and visualization, especially for qualitative data.
Before joining the Swetland Center, Emily researched mental health in public schools and developed and taught a Capstone Experience in Public Health course at Kent State. She has previous work experience in clinical trials and overdose prevention. Outside of work, Emily enjoys cooking, hiking and indoor bouldering.
