We are excited to welcome Megan Paskey into our team! She is joining us as a Research Associate, and you can learn more about her in the interview below.
- What project will you be working on and what is your role?
Nourishing Power Network
- Where are you from?
I was born in Las Vegas, NV and raised in Northeastern Ohio. I have spent the last 10 years outside of Ohio in Indiana and Boston. My family and I just relocated from Indianapolis to Cleveland for my husband’s medical residency at the Cleveland Clinic!
- What is your background in?
I have a robust background in Public Health Nutrition, with a strong emphasis on global health and healthcare. For the last three years, I have worked for the State of Indiana, supporting public health at the state level. I bring experience in program and grant management, along with program design, implementation, and evaluation experience.
- What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I am excited at the challenge for working for a research entity and academic center because all of my experience is in non-profit and government work. The Nourishing Power Network project is an innovative and exciting opportunity to be a part of and I am excited to be challenged and to learn from the team and residents of the Cleveland community.
- What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
I have a deep love for the Metroparks system that runs back to my childhood. There are so many fun opportunities to explore different parts of the Greater Cleveland Area through the Metroparks. My family and I went to Hinkley Reservation right after moving in June and it was great to explore a new area and let our puppy run around in the woods, exploring all sorts of fun environments.
- What is a piece of advice you have been given or quote/statement that is significant to you?
As human beings, we all hold core values that apply to life and work. It has been an incredibly important exercise for me to name and understand my own core values and hold myself accountable to them to lead a fulfilling and generous life.
