The Swetland Center welcomes another bright Graduate Research Assistant! Emmanuelle (Emma) Iskander joined us recently to help support the Nourishing Power Network Study. We look forward to learning from her experiences and expertise and are grateful for her support!
1. What project will you be working on and what is your role?
My role is part-time Graduate Research Assistant, where I will be delivering Marketing and Communications Support for Swetland Center and Nourishing Power study as well as Administrative Support for Nourishing Power Study, in addition to other tasks as needed.
2. Where are you from?
I am from Lebanon. I was born and raised in a town located in the northern part of Lebanon called Zgharta. It is famous for its excellent “Kebbeh”, vibrant culture, and a close-knit community that values tradition and family.
3. What is your background in?
I am studying Nonprofit Management at the Mandel School; my background involves Food Engineering (Food Security, Food Technology, and Food Safety) and Graphic Design/Content Creation.
4. What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I am excited to commit my skills and time to positively impacting the community. I have always been interested in the intersection of food and community development and, therefore, improving access to healthy food for low-income communities and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
5. What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
I haven’t been here long enough to pick a favorite yet! But so far, I enjoy going to the Metroparks and Little Italy.
6. What is a piece of advice you have been given or quote/statement that is significant to you?
“No action is too small.” This quote reminds me daily that individual responsibility and action are key to creating a better world. Everyone has the power to make a difference, no matter how small our contribution may seem!
