Food Systems Change Fellow, Kellee Etheridge, takes on new role as Lead Educator at Food Strong

We are excited to congratulate our 2021 Food Systems Change Fellow, Kellee Etheridge, on her new role as Lead Educator at . Food Strong aims to use fresh, local foods to strengthen and empower communities. They collaborate with community-facing organizations, grassroots initiatives, public institutions, and private companies to promote the cultivation, purchase, and consumption of fresh, local foods. Food Strong emphasizes the power of food as a tool to convene community members and foster overall community wellness. 

As Lead Educator, Kellee will coordinate, plan, execute, and evaluate Food Strong’s education programming. Programs will be implemented in schools, headquarters, and the community. One such program includes cooking demonstrations in a variety of educational and community settings. Kellee will also be delegating educational program-oriented tasks to Food Strong Community Outreach Associate, AmeriCorps VISTA, and volunteers. 

In 2021, Kellee participated in the Food Systems Change Fellowship launched by the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health. The goal of this fellowship was to provide support for local leaders to develop and validate their visions for community-driven food systems change.

As part of the Fellowship, Kellee aspired to “cultivate culinary curiosity among children and families to expand their palettes and to promote family connections around healthy eating.”
