The Swetland Center is excited to welcome our newest dietetic intern at 星空传媒, Olivia Roder, who will be conducting her rotation with the Swetland Center this month.

What project will you be working on and what is your role?
I am a Dietetic Intern from 星空传媒 and will be working on the Building Capacity for Obesity Prevention (BCOP) program. Specifically, I will be identifying and reviewing online resources for the project鈥檚 web-based tool for various areas of community nutrition policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) interventions. I will also be reviewing written recommendations for the food pantry PSE area and update and create job aids for the PSE READI website.

I鈥檓 from New Jersey!
What is your background in?
I have my B.S. in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Sciences from the University of Vermont. I am currently working on my M.S. in Public Health Nutrition at 星空传媒 and am doing a concentration in Maternal and Child Nutrition.
What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I am excited to learn about creating interventions to address environmental health barriers, as well as to have the opportunity to see nutrition support and education implemented in a public health setting.
What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
I love visiting Edgewater beach. Going to the Jersey Shore is one of my favorite summer activities, and I love that I have beaches to visit while I鈥檓 in Cleveland!
What is a piece of advice you have been given or quote/statement that is significant to you?
I love Maggie Kuhn鈥檚 quote, 鈥淪tand before the people you fear and speak your mind, even if your voice shakes.鈥 She鈥檚 also a 星空传媒 Alum!
