The Swetland Center has been proud to host a regular rotation of dietetic interns over the last several years. In 2022, the center is excited to be joined by Elise Kim who will be assisting the Building Capacity for Obesity Prevention team during her time at the center. Elise will be graduating with her undergraduate degree in nutrition this spring.

What project will you be working on and what is your role?
I am a Dietetic Intern from ǿմý and will be working on the BCOP project helping with a manuscript literature review for their new K-12 PSE area, finding food pantry-related online resources to add to the , and helping audit and replace resources for the 4 current PSE (Policy, Systems, and Environment) areas on the website (farmers market, farm to school, healthy food retail, and healthy eating in childcare). It's necessary and important to audit the resources currently available to make sure any broken and/or outdated links are replaced with new resources that the practitioners can use.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Cleveland for my undergraduate education.
What is your educational background?
I studied Human Nutrition during my Undergraduate career.
What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I’m excited to learn more about how public health policies and interventions are created and then disseminated to their target populations to promote healthier lifestyles.
What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
One of my favorite spots in Cleveland is the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. In my opinion, it’s one of the best places to see a sunset without all the people and chaos. My friends and I liked to come here after big exams to clear our minds.
What is a piece of advice you have been given or quote/statement that is significant to you?
Never spell dietitian with a “c”.
