We are excited to welcome Linh, a dietetic intern, to Swetland Center. Learn more about Linh below!
What project will you be working on and what is your role?
I will be working on the Building Capacity for Obesity Prevention (BCOP) Project by finding and reviewing online resources for the project’s web-based tool in different community nutrition policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) intervention areas including Food Pantry and K-12 Schools.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam and went to ǿմý for my undergrad, master’s degree, and dietetic internship. It is my fifth year here!
What is your background in?
My background is shaped by my experience in different fields in nutrition and my interest in nutrition care for pregnancy.
In the past, I have done research at the university back home and ǿմý Digestive Health Institute. Then, I had an opportunity to get exposed to food service fields at LifeMoves non-profit organization, where provides home shelters for the homeless in the Bay Area, California, and at Cleveland Metropolitan School District School Nutrition Department.
What excites you about joining the Swetland Center?
I am really exciting for my upcoming weeks at the Swetland Center because Swetland Center is a home of projects that are dedicated to understanding the relationship between community’s health and their environments, which I believe, is really important to grasp before any impact on the community could be done. Not only I cannot wait to learn from the BCOP Project itself but also from the professional and collaborative team, who makes it happen.
What is your favorite outdoor space in Cleveland or a place you want to explore?
I cannot say how much love I fell in for the green of Holden Arboretum. The arboretum was not huge but I still got lost.
What is a piece of advice you have been given or quote/statement that is significant to you?
“You do not have the rights to the result but you have all the rights to your actions.”
The quote from my professor reminds me to always put my heart and my best effort in every single thing I do and the result will come after.
