Apply to live in the new Sustainability House Fall 2017

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is offering a new living space starting Fall 2017 that will operate as an intentional living community dedicated to sustainability. Sustainability House (as it’s currently being called) is open to upperclassmen and select sophomore students.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Housing will make exceptions for accepted students to leave their on-campus Fall housing commitments.

Up to ten students will be selected based on their online applications (see link below). The cohort of students will work together to establish the culture of the house through green lifestyle commitments, identify and propose upgrades to make the residence more sustainable (i.e. energy, water efficient, etc.), and keep data on sustainability metrics. Those accepted will be enthusiastic about their own green lifestyle, appreciate working with a team, and enjoy action research.

The house, Wade Manor, is located at the corner of Wake Park Ave. and East 115th Ave. The house has five to six bedrooms (expected to all be doubles) three and a half bathrooms and large common spaces, including living room, sun porch, dining room, and a full kitchen. Meal plans will be required pursuant to existing policies for on-campus housing. The house will be considered on-campus, upper-class housing and will be priced as such.

The deadline to apply is Friday, May 5. Brief in-person or phone interviews may be needed. Decisions will be made and students will be notified by May 19.
