Marion Were, MD

Marion Were, MD, joined the academic pediatrics & adolescent medicine division at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s in August 2023. 

Dr. Were is a board-eligible, fellowship-trained pediatric specialist at University Hospitals Rainbow Ahuja Center for Women & Children in Cleveland’s Midtown neighborhood. Dr. Were treats children of all ages, has a particular clinical interest in immigrant health, specifically linguistic justice, and is actively involved with academic research.

Dr. Were earned her medical doctorate at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, graduating cum laude. She went on to complete a residency in pediatrics at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois.

After residency, Dr. Were relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she earned a Master of Public Health in Clinical Translational Science at Ohio State University. During this same time period, she further advanced her training, completing a fellowship in academic general pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, also in Columbus.

Dr. Were is an accomplished educator and lecturer, most recently presenting at the 2023 Pediatric Academic Societies Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. She is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the Society for Pediatric Research.
