The Schubert Center supports undergraduate and graduate education by overseeing a minor in Childhood Studies, partnering with local organizations to provide undergraduate externships, and offering an annual fellowship for doctoral students in psychology.
Three child policy courses are offered through the Schubert Center.
Child Policy Courses
Childhood Studies (CHST) 301: Child Policy, gives undergraduate students an overview of the policy-making process and introduces them to key child practice and policy issues.
CHST 302: Experiential Learning in Child Policy, gives students an in-depth understanding of the child policy makÂing process at the state and federal level, and includes an experiÂential component through which students spend several days in Washington DC meeting with policymakers and other key stakeholders while observing the policy process in action.
CHST 398: Child Policy Externship, awards course credit to Mann Child Policy Externs for experiential learning opportunities in community agencies involved in child policy and practice issues. The Mann Child Policy Externship is now also available as an undergraduate capstone experience in anthropology, childhood studies, and psychology.
