Dr. Sonia Minnes, Verna Houck Motto Professor at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School for Applied Social Sciences, has been named as the new Research Director of the Schubert Center, with an appointment beginning in Fall 2020.  "I am so pleased to work with the Schubert Center affiliates, students and community partners as we address the needs of children and families together," explains Minnes.  She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and a doctorate in social welfare from the Mandel School. Minnes joined the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty as an Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine in 2004. Her research interests are in the study of child development and the multiple factors that affect cognitive and mental health outcomes.

In addition to her contributions as a member of the Schubert Center leadership team, Minnes will oversee research initiatives, mentor post-doctoral researchers and graduate students, and assist with community collaborations.  "We are delighted to have Dr. Minnes join the Schubert staff," Center Director Dr. Anastasia Dimitropoulos says. "As we move toward more collaborative research partnerships with community agencies to bridge research with policy and practice, Sonia will bring great leadership and expertise to these initiatives.  We are also excited to make this appointment to center staff across schools and look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with the Mandel School in the future."

Welcome, Dr. Minnes, and congratulations!
