Sexual Orientation and Parenting: Research and Policy Issues [SCHUBERT CENTER EVENT]

, professor of psychology and director of the Women, Gender and Sexuality Program at the University of Virginia, will give a public talk titled “Sexual Orientation and Parenting: Research and Policy Issues” on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 4:30 p.m. in the Wolstein Research Building auditorium.

Patterson will discuss recent research on lesbian and gay parents and their children. The social and political contexts surrounding LGBT families in the United States also will be explored, as well as future directions for research and policy initiatives.

Patterson will be joined by two respondents: , executive director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center of Greater Cleveland, and Amy Przeworski, assistant professor of psychology.

The event is presented by the ǿմý Schubert Center for Child Studies with community partners including the ; the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network of Northeast Ohio; Equality Ohio; PFLAG Cleveland; ǿմý LGBT Center; and ǿմý University Counseling Services.
