Dr. Rebecca Philipsborn, MD, MPA, FAAP, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine and Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health, Rollins School of Public Health, is an expert in climate and environmental impacts on maternal-child health.  

Dr. Philipsborn will discuss how pediatricians can support maternal and child health and well-being in the climate crisis.  She will share insights about how to build upon the role of pediatrician in the day-to-day practice of pediatrics, to include research that advances climate solutions and advocacy that keeps children's needs at the forefront. Her lecture will emphasize synergies between pediatric care and climate justice.

The Cuttler lectureship is named in honor of the late Dr. Leona Cuttler in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to patient care, clinical research, education, and child health and policy.

Dr. Cuttler was a master clinician, respected educator, and nationally recognized innovator of child health policy.  She was Vice-Chair for Child Health Policy and Community Health and held the William T. Dahms Chair in Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

Following a fellowship with the U.S. Senate Finance Committee advising on Medicare, Medicaid, obesity, and other health conditions, Dr. Cuttler returned to UH Rainbow and served as founding Director of the UH Rainbow Center for Child Health & Policy (CCHP)

This annual lecture serves as an opportunity to engage, inspire, and inform the next generation of pediatricians, nurses, and allied professionals on important child health and policy developments.  CCHP is proud to honor Dr. Cuttler's legacy in pursuing programs and policies that enhance the well-being of children and their families through research, evaluation, and Advocacy.
