The Office of Provost is pleased to announce nearly three dozen new North Star courses and experiences. Activities range from for-credit courses to seminars to service-oriented projects to tours of various on- and off-campus locations.
At the heart of this program is an interest in helping students re-engage and reconnect with each other, with faculty and staff, and with businesses and residents of our neighboring communities.
“It’s amazing to see what our community has done in such a short timeframe,” said Provost and Executive Vice President Ben Vinson III. “In less than a month our community has put together a program that really highlights the best of who we are, and offers unique experiences that only ǿմý can provide.”
North Star activities by the campus community using four guiding principles:
- Focus on CLE or on-campus experiences;
- Be framed in short time bursts;
- Take into account health and safety protocols; and
- Show connection to the university’s strategic plan, .
“This is such a unique time in our history,” said Vinson. “Given the current public health crisis and its associated disparities, a viral pandemic, compounded with a national reckoning with structural racism, these courses and experiences could very well offer a much needed outlet for our campus community.”
