Residential communities and traditions: First-year students

First-Year Experience
The Office of Residence Life is excited to welcome you to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ this fall. As a crucial part of the first-year experience, our residential communities are a proving ground for your personal and academic transformation. These communities aim to assist you during your transition into these new surroundings and to connect you with the university through various academic resources, exploring campus life, attending residence hall programs and connecting with our campus traditions.

Our goal is to help you establish a foundation for future success. The First-Year Experience residential areas include Cedar/Magnolia (affectionately known as CedarMag), Juniper, Mistletoe and Clarke Tower. In August, you will meet the residence life team, including residential community directors and resident assistants that live and work alongside you.

Our staff are always exploring new ways to help you connect to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. You’ll have plenty of chances to attend residence hall and floor programs planned by your resident assistant throughout the year. We also maintain annual traditions, which include the Tailgate, Late Night Breakfast, Escape Room and Snow Place Like Home. These area-wide programs are open to all residential students and are great places for new students to make connections on campus.
