Kate Kunstel, MMSc, PA-C serves as Remediation Coordinator and Director of Admissions for the PA program. She spent 10 years working in PA education in New York City prior to returning to her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio and joining the faculty at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ in June of 2022.

Kate was trained at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She has been working in malignant hematology since graduating in 2009. She has practiced clinically at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, and New York-Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital at Columbia Medical Center in New York City. Kate worked on the front lines of the COVID-19 Pandemic in New York City and helped to establish the COVID-19 Palliative Care Unit at NYP. In addition to malignant hematology, Kate is passionate about palliative care, end of life care, navigating grief, and providing wholistic, empathetic care for patients and their loved ones.

 

Kate most recently earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and is very interested in process analysis and process improvement, as well as leading teams. Kate anticipates applying this knowledge and skillset to her role on the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ faculty. In addition, as a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Kate has a specific interest in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in PA education and in the PA profession.

Kate spends her free time hiking and running outdoors with her rescued pit bull, Warren. She loves wildlife and enjoys wildlife photography. Kate is very interested in both animal rights and the environment. She loves to cook and try new vegan recipes and enjoys doing volunteer work at farm sanctuaries.
