Graduate Programs

PhD training opportunities in the Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences are part of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine's connected PhD programs. This includes the , where students earn a PhD, and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), where students earn an MD/PhD. Our programs emphasize genetics and genetic/genomic approaches to questions of general significance in biology and medicine.

Students interested in Genetic Counseling may apply to the Genetic Counseling Training Program. The Genetic Counseling Training Program offers two tracks: an MS degree in Genetic Counseling or an MS/MA in Genetic Counseling and Bioethics (dual degree program). This program trains students who can interface with patients, clinicians, and molecular and human geneticists.

By physically placing these two disciplines within the same department, our Graduate Programs in Genetics offer a unique range of opportunities for students. Direct access to clinical resources is provided by affiliations with University Hospitals, Case Medical Center, and The Cleveland Clinic.
