A National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded T32 training grant in the Department of Dermatology is currently in its 23rd year of support. The purpose of this training program is to provide state-of-the-art training of scientists and physician-scientists in interdisciplinary strategies addressing investigative dermatology and cutaneous biology. This is accomplished by developing individualized career-building programs for qualified trainees holding a PhD, MD, MD and PhD, or DO degree. Our recruits are chosen for their commitment to careers in investigative dermatology or cutaneous biology. Our balanced recruitment emphasizes a balance between MD, MD/PhD and PhD trainees at any given time. Basic scientists (PhD) with up to two years of postdoctoral experience are also eligible. Physician scientists (MDs) entering the training program will have completed at least two years of clinical dermatology training. Physician-scientists often enter the program as 鈥2+2鈥 residents in the academic research track of the residency program.
Finally, short-term positions allow training for medical students during the summers between either the first and second years or second and third years of medical training.
