Overview
The third Cleveland IDEAS (International Digestive Education and Science) Symposium took place on September 2023. The Cleveland IDEAS Symposiums are a series of comprehensive educational activities that will encompass a Basic Science workshop for research-oriented physicians and scientists and a clinical Gastroenterology/Hepatology course covering current topics and leading-edge technologies in the field of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
The Basic Science workshop (non-CME) will gather together international and national experts in the field of gastrointestinal diseases to provide a series of state-of-the-art basic presentations regarding cytokines/inflammatory bowel disease, the gut microbiome and its impact on other organs, and mucosal immunology beyond the gut. The Young Investigator Symposium during the Basic Science workshop, will focus on the development of Young Investigators through oral and poster presentations, a round table session on funding opportunities in gastroenterology diseases, and networking opportunities with senior investigators.
The Clinical course (CME) will provide the most recent and relevant information presented by local and international experts, incorporating evidence-based guidelines pertaining to clinical practice, allowing attendees to appreciate and utilize expert insight and optimal strategies into their daily practice.
This symposium is for research scientists, physicians, associates, post-doctoral fellows, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners and nurses.

Program Learning Objectives: Clinical Course
- Recognize and interpret major advances in the clinical practice of gastroenterology and hepatology.
- Incorporate the most up-to-date diagnostic approaches to gastroenterology and liver disorders.
- Choose therapeutic options for gastroenterology and liver disorders in an evidence based manner.
- Manage patients with both common and rare gastroenterology and liver disorders using established guidelines with expert input.
