Required Materials for a Completed Application:
- Online Application: Start the . Please indicate that you are applying to the School of Medicine, Bioethics & Medical Humanities program
- Transcripts: Include school-issued unofficial transcripts, scanned and uploaded for all colleges or universities attended. Electronic transcripts can also be emailed to gradtranscripts@case.edu
- Resume/CV: Upload your current resume/CV outlining all work experience and volunteer roles with timeframes. Make sure to highlight any completed research positions or opportunities experienced
- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required. A professor who can attest to your academic or professional experience is recommended to write one or more of these recommendations. The online application will request recommenders' contact info for electronic submission. Contact bioethics@case.edu if applicant is interested in using Interfolio. Dual degree students see more information below.
- Statement of Purpose: In one to two pages, address your interest in bioethics & medical humanities and how you hope to utilize this program in your career path
- Application Fee: A $50 application fee is due upon submission of your application
- Test Scores (Optional): Self-report and upload your test-taker copy of the GRE, MAT, MCAT, LSAT, DAT, PCAT, or GMAT score report.

Undergraduate ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students interested in the CBM program must complete all requirements detailed above.
Additional Requirements:
- Students who plan to apply for this program are required to meet with MA program director Dr. Jeunnette lsj11@case.edu prior to submitting their application in order to create a plan of study including remaining undergraduate courses and MA courses.
- Undergraduate students are required to submit a PPOS form as part of their application. Applicants can obtain a Bioethics and Medical Humanities PPOS form from Graduate Program Coordinator, Marie Norris, MNO man12@case.edu after meeting with Dr. Jeunnette. This form must be completed and submitted before an admission decision can be rendered
Application deadline for CBM students is March 1 for a fall semester start.
Note: The application system should automatically waive the application fee and Graduate Test Score are optional.
International candidates must complete all requirements detailed above.
Additional Requirements:
- International students not from an English speaking country must provide either a TOEFL or an IELTS test score to demonstrate English proficiency. Only Graduate Studies can waive the English proficiency requirements.
- For international applicants living outside of Canada and/or have taken courses outside of the United States and Canada, they must provide a course-by-course transcript evaluation from an agency that is a part of either AICE or NACES. This should be sent directly to the department to be considered official.
- To obtain a F-1 visa, international students must submit bank statements and other financial documents indicating sufficient funds to support the tuition and living expenses for one academic year. If you wish to apply for student assistantships we will require this information earlier in the process.
We recommend that international students aim to submit their applications by the Priority #2 deadline May 15th to give adequate time for obtaining visa documentation. Each applicant's situation is different, so we recommend that the applicant speak with ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Visa Office and International Student Services.

Students interested in a dual degree program must complete all requirements detailed above.

For students applying to the dual degree programs, they can request their previously submitted letters of recommendation (outside of Graduate Studies) to be sent directly to the Department of Bioethics. This is done by marking the letters to be completed offline and instructing programs/recommenders to sent letters to bioethics@case.edu.
- For JD/MA, MSW/MA, MPH/MA, MA in Genetic Counseling/ MA, and MSN/MA applications, you can submit two letters of recommendations through the application or can request their letters of recommendation from their other program to be emailed to bioethics@case.edu. Be sure to list all the names of your recommenders and mark to be completed offline.
- For MD/MA applicants, you can submit two letters of recommendation through the application, use Interfolio to submit to bioethics@case.edu, or request their SOM/CCLCM Society Dean to email a letter on their behalf. Be sure to list all the names of your recommenders and mark to be completed offline.
