Our training program emphasizes:
- Independent surgery under the direct supervision of faculty. Our culture ensures that training is directed by and coordinated carefully through our faculty.
- Simulation Training. Workshops are available for our residents to augment their academic and operative training. These include OMS Boot Camp, Cadaveric Surgical Dissection, Implant Placement, and Trauma Plating.
- National and Regional Meetings. Time and financial assistance is provided to every resident to attend national and regional meetings, including the AAMOS, the ACOMS, and the Chalmers Lyons meeting.
- Level 1 Trauma Hospitals. Training is conducted at two busy Level I trauma hospitals and at the third-largest VA clinic in the country, with the focus on treating chronically ill patients and implant placement.
- A strong education in TMJ, esthetic, and orthognathic procedures and countless dentoalveolar general sedation cases.
- Preparation to be leaders in the field. We train competent and knowledgeable surgeons and leaders in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and prepare residents for their future academic, private practice, or fellowship endeavors.
