Our Gender Equity in STEM (GEM) initiatives seek to continue to expand University-wide initiatives and programs that focus on supporting a campus community collaboration towards creating allies for gender equity in STEM; STEM research by women; professional and leadership development for Gender Equity in STEM; and social support and belong for women in STEM.
To support this overall environmental change the Mather Center has launch a professional support and mentorship program for alumnae and community leaders in STEM; launch leadership development programs for women faculty and staff in STEM; delivered gender equity in STEM ally training for the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ community; expanded our research and travel grants for students to faculty and staff; and strengthened our collaboration and advocacy for women in STEM by partnering with other existing women and STEM programs on campus and serving as a meeting place and incubator for new programming for women and STEM at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.
WISER is the student organization focused on creating a welcoming environment for all women in STEM programs here at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.
PRISE provides women-aligned students with support to pursue entrepreneurship during their undergraduate years.
eSTEAMed Scholars is the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women’s K-12 initiative, and it contains both one off outreach events as well as a larger, cohort based program for students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD).
The STEM Allyship Training Initiative seeks to train key STEM faculty members to be effective allies, helping to build a culture that is not only aware of our biases, but actively works against them.
