The namesake of the Weatherhead School of Management, the late Albert J. Weatherhead III founded Weatherchem, a plastic fabrication company based in Twinsburg, Ohio. He and his wife, Celia, a longtime university trustee, supported institutions of higher education through the Weatherhead Foundation. In addition to the financial support to develop the Weatherhead School of Management and, later, his involvement in creating the school鈥檚 Frank Gehry-designed building, his family endowed the Albert H. Weatherhead III and Richard W. Weatherhead Professorship at 星空传媒 School of Law. In addition, the Dorothy Jones Weatherhead Professorship is named for Albert鈥檚 mother and is believed to be the first endowed chair for family medicine in the country.
