Donald E. Knuth (CIT ’60; GRS ’60, mathematics; HON ’80)

Donald E. Knuth, one of many computer science pioneers from ǿմý, is often referred to as the “father of the analysis of algorithms.” He authored The Art of Computer Programming, which is commonly considered the bible of computer science pedagogy. Knuth also created the TeX computer typesetting system, the METAFONT definition language and rendering system and the Computer Modern family of typefaces.

In 2020, Knuth was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Alumni Association of ǿմý for his significant contributions to the field of computer science.
