BEGIN THE JOURNEY:
Evolutionary Biology seeks to discover the history of life on earth and to understand the causal processes of evolution. Through this study, the discipline makes contributions in a wide variety of fields: human health and medicine, environment and conservation, agriculture and natural resources, the discovery of useful natural products, and our understanding of humanity.
The interdisciplinary nature of the program provides students with a broad range of courses and approaches to the study of evolution by combining the expertise of professors in anthropology, anatomy, biology, geology, and philosophy.

NATURES MATING GAMES: BEYOND THE BIRDS & THE BEES:
Open October 26, 2013 through April 27, 2014 at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. This exhibit exposes the unusual, odd and sometimes downright dangerous truth about how animals reproduce. Previously at the Natural History Museum in London and the Palais de la Decouverte in Paris. .

MAY 2014:
Darin Croft, associate professor of anatomy, and evolutionary biology major Russell Engelman published an article in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology about Engelman's identification of a cat-like meat eater that lived around 13 million years ago in modern day Bolivia. The story was featured in The Plain Dealer on May 22, 2014.
FEBRUARY 2014:
An article on genetic adaptations for life at high elevations of the Tibetan plateau was recently published on the Archaeology News Network. The article, "Genetic origins of high-altitude adaptations in Tibetans," features studies conducted by Dr. Cynthia Beall, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, and scientists from the University of Chicago.

Scott Simpson, professor of anatomy and project paleontologist for the Gona Project led by Sileshi Semaw, is part of two teams of researchers who have recently discovered a new species of fossil horse from 4.4-million-year-old fossil-rich deposits in Ethiopia. NEWLY RENOVATED AND UPDATED! HUMAN ORIGINS GALLERY:
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History unveiled a new human evolution gallery, "Human Origins," at the museum. The gallery explores the evolution of various early human ancestor species and outlines the physical changes through time leading to modern humans. The exhibition is organized into seven thematic stages based on milestones. .
