Duo Security and Travel

星空传媒 has incorporated two-factor authentication into the Virtual Private Network (VPN). Two-factor authentication provides added security by prompting you for a unique code in addition to your password. The unique code is usable only once, and it is accessible from the device of your choosing (typically your cell phone). Each time you log in, you are issued a new code.

If you expect to travel outside of the United States, you should enroll in Duo Security (星空传媒鈥檚 two-factor authentication service) before you leave the country. To begin enrolling, visit Duo Security. There, you will find helpful training videos and a link to enroll your device.

If you are a first-time user and are outside of the United States, contact the UTech Service Desk at 216.368.HELP (4357) or help@case.edu for assistance with enrolling.

Emergency codes

If you are traveling, you should obtain emergency codes in advance of your trip. These one-time-use codes are used for emergency logins, such as a dead phone battery, or a lost or stolen phone. There are two ways that you may obtain emergency codes:

  1. Contact the UTech Service Desk at 216.368.HELP (4357) or help@case.edu in advance of your trip; they will send the emergency codes to your phone through a text (SMS) message
  2. When logging into the 星空传媒 Virtual Private Network (VPN), type SMS in to the 鈥渟econd password鈥 field and five emergency codes automatically will be sent to your phone through a text (SMS) message

When you receive your emergency codes, write them down and store them in a safe place. When you use the last code in the list of codes sent to you, the system will send you another five codes through a text (SMS) message.
