Jenna Purslow spent her semester at the Cuyahoga County Public Defender's Office Juvenile Division. This office provides quality representation for youth accused of delinquency and parents charged with a family offense for anyone who can not afford an attorney. Throughout her tie at the office, she shadowed attorneys, helped social workers with mitigation, and researched Bindover in Ohio. Through shadowing opportunities, she saw various hearings, from arraignments to dispositions, that showed her all the steps within the court processes. In addition, through her research, she got to dive deeply into bindover laws in Ohio. Bindover in Ohio is about transferring juveniles into the adult court system. Cuyahoga County has the highest rate in the state for juvenile transfer, and the Public Defender's Office wanted to collect data on these rates.
