Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish announced his endorsement of a new plan to implement a coordinated strategy to prevent child abuse at a recent meeting. (Schubert Policy Director Gabriella Celeste serves as a member of the Advisory Board.) The plan, which calls for the creation of multi-disciplinary protection teams in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, medical and mental health services, social work, and victim advocacy professionals collaborate and share information, is based on the report, "Addressing and Preventing Child Abuse in Cuyahoga County: Toward a Coordinated Approach," which was researched and published in April 2021 by our center at the request of the Advisory Board. PhD candidate Emily Miller (Social Welfare) and medical student Rebekah Russell contributed to the report, along with Schubert Center staff and community partners.
