Research Presentation with Yangyang Liu, Doctoral Candidate

School of Education, University of California, Irvine

Organized afterschool activities are an important part of the lives of many youth and present various opportunities for positive academic functioning. However, existing research focuses more on the quantity of participation and less on the quality of activity experiences. In addition, research investigating the mechanisms underlying this association is limited. Liu will share a study that examines three pathways linking organized activity quantity (e.g., intensity) and perceived quality for students in 6th grade with their work orientation and academic functioning in 9th and 12th grades, highlighting the importance of high quality youth experiences.

Free and open to the community via Zoom.
