Policy: ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ follows the provisions of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act One of the requirements of the Act is that a campus must issue a “timely warning “(known at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ as a security alert) that alerts the campus community to certain crimes in a manner that is timely and will aid in the prevention of future crimes. Per the Clery Act the intent of the warning regarding a criminal incident(s) is to enable people to protect themselves. The Act also mandates that a university define and publish its procedure regarding timely warnings in its Annual Security Report.
-
When the Division of Public Safety is notified that a Clery Act crime has occurred on or near campus the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Police Department determines if there is a serious or continuous threat posed to the campus community. If a serious or continuous threat exists a Security Alert is issued.
-
Security Alerts and neighborhood safety advisories are sent from the Rave emergency notification system and are posted on the Division of Public Safety website under Security Statistics at case.edu/publicsafety. Names of the person(s) involved will not appear in security alerts.
-
Information provided in security alerts include:
-
The location, date and time of the incident;
-
A short summary of the incident;
-
Physical description of the suspect(s), when available;
-
Date the alert was released;
