Social Work/Nonprofit Management

Social work students in a Mandel classroom
MSW/MNO dual degree

About the Program

At one of the nation's top 10 schools of social work, you can train for nonprofit leadership of clinical or community-based human service and civic organizations. Earn your dual master's degree in social work and nonprofit management with only nine additional hours of coursework.

What to Expect

You'll learn how to apply theories of individual and group behavior as well as community systems theory specifically to nonprofit leadership. And choose the track that best suits your goals: Community Practice in Social Change or Direct Practice. You'll hone your relationship-building skills in a master's program that is worth your time. Since you earn credit for both master's degrees, the dual program can be completed after about 2.5 years total once you complete 1 year of study in social work or nonprofit organizations.

“There are more than 600 colleges and universities that offer coursework in nonprofit studies but the vast majority only offer a concentration, at best. At the Mandel School, you will be immersed in learning specific to the nonprofit sector—not learning tools or approaches that you must then adapt to nonprofit work.”
