About the Program

If you’re a medical student studying at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine looking to enhance your background in clinical nutrition and biochemistry, we have the perfect recipe: Our dual Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Investigation in Nutrition program.

By earning this master’s degree along with your MD, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge and research experience in nutrition—and can focus on nutrition biochemistry and metabolism, molecular nutrition, or clinical nutrition. When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to pursue careers in basic science research or in clinical research, understanding the crucial role nutrition plays in human health.

What to Expect

You can complete both degrees from the best medical school in Ohio, and one of the top research universities in the country, in just five years.

The core components of this dual-degree program consist of:

  • Three to six graduate-level courses in nutrition, based on your interests
  • Six credits of medical school coursework
  • Common seminar series
  • Training in scientific integrity
  • One-year research project culminating in a written report and examination by faculty mentor in the Nutrition Department

One full year of the program is devoted to research, and tuition and health fees are paid by the department. Additionally, a stipend of $15,000 is provided for you from your advisor’s research grant, meaning there should be no cost to you for this year.
