About the Program

Gain the marketable skills you need to forge a career in the biotechnology industry with a certificate in experimental technology from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. Offered through our Department of Biochemistry, this certificate program is designed to prepare you to achieve your goals—whether that be working in pharmaceuticals, becoming a research assistant, or pursuing further credentials. The best part? You can earn this certificate on your schedule in one year if you complete full-time study, or two years if taken part time.

What to Expect

As a student in our program, you’ll gain hands-on experience through our well-rounded curriculum as you study biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology and more. And thanks to our small program size, you’ll benefit from access to dedicated program mentors who are invested in your personal success.

Our laboratory courses provide experience at the bench in recombinant protein production, mammalian cell culture, molecular and cell biology, and mass spectrometry, while our classroom courses cover experimental design, documentation of experiments, and professional skills, as well as biochemistry and molecular biology.

Looking to further specialize your studies? We offer stand-out classes such as Molecular Biology and Biochemical Techniques, a two-credit-hour hands-on lab course focused on protein overexpression, purification and characterization together with site-directed mutagenesis. We also offer a one-credit-hour lecture/discussion course on biotechnology, in which we focus on the skills and attributes required in biotech/pharma while regularly hearing from guest speakers from industry. Admission Details

You should submit an application online, along with three letters of recommendation, transcript(s) of undergraduate and graduate work, and official TOEFL scores if they are required.  GRE scores are optional.

Students are admitted for the fall semester, although we welcome inquiries about spring admission. For the fall semester, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis starting Dec. 1. The priority deadline for fall is March 1 and applications are accepted until June 1.
