About the Program

Amp up your knowledge of circuits and instrumentation, robotics, and micro- and nano-systems and more with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, one of the top research universities in the U.S. Here, you’ll:

  • figure out innovative ways to design electrical equipment and install systems,
  • understand how to test that equipment in a variety of fields, and
  • take your skills to world-renowned companies such as Google, Apple, and NASA—all organizations where our graduates have landed careers.

What to Expect

Delve into integrated circuit design, robotics, and solid state electronics through your coursework—and work with faculty one-on-one to develop and test your research interests (opening doors for assistantships).

You’ll attend 3 semesters of a to expand your knowledge and understanding. This will set you up to develop a specialty in the field and prepare you to create leading-edge solutions to electrical problems.

Beyond the Classroom

Take classroom concepts and apply them at our Institute for Smart, Secure and Connected Systems: an industrial internet of things (IIoT) collaborative that seeks to advance understanding of embedded systems, cybersecurity, and other facets of IIoT. Here, you’ll explore the function of sensors and actuators in everyday objects.

Then, you can test out your abilities at the Sears think[box]. This makerspace has all the resources you could ever need to develop and design your dream solutions to electrical engineering problems—from wearables, to energy systems, to virtual reality.
