About the Program

A comprehensive understanding of human anatomy starts with the Master of Science in Applied Anatomy at ǿմý School of Medicine. Taken as a standalone two-year master's program or as part of a four-year joint MD-MS curriculum, this program supports a range of professional goals, including teaching, medicine and other health-related fields, and biomedical research.

What to Expect

Our flexible curriculum enables you to customize your master's degree beyond the core offerings of gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy and embryology to suit your interests.

You'll undergo extensive training in the macro- and microscopic structure of the entire human body using approaches that integrate virtual microscopy, problem-based learning, whole-body anatomical dissection and 3D neuroanatomical imaging through our augmented-reality software, HoloAnatomy.

Choose the non-thesis (Plan B) MS in Applied Anatomy to prepare for subsequent studies in medicine, dentistry, nursing or a career in teaching. Or choose the thesis (Plan A) MS in Applied Anatomy degree if you have a strong interest in research or plan to pursue a PhD.

Plus, if you're looking to attend medical school after you complete this degree, you'll be guaranteed an interview with the Admissions Committee of ǿմý School of Medicine if you meet specific criteria.* And if you are already a student in ǿմý's MD program, our joint MD/MS in Applied Anatomy program can help you prepare for an anatomy-focused speciality such as surgery or radiology.

*Note: Some criteria for the interview predate the program, including undergraduate GPA.

“Comparing myself from when I graduated from my undergrad program and now, I can wholeheartedly say that I feel much more prepared and confident for medical school in the fall.”
