About Karen F. Kaler
Karen F. Kaler is an author, graphic designer and avid volunteer. Her husband, Eric W. Kaler, is the 11th president of ǿմý.
Ms. Kaler has a passion for history and is currently working on a book project titled “History with a Southern Accent.” She has written two historical fiction books for children, as well as a monograph on the role of presidential partners in higher education. Her book, “Eastcliff: History of Home,” a history of the University of Minnesota president’s residence, was published in 2023 by the University of Minnesota Press.
At ǿմý, her particular interests include the women’s philanthropic initiative and enhancing the experience of ǿմý families.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tenn., Ms. Kaler earned her bachelor of fine arts in studio art from the University of Tennessee.
President and Ms. Kaler live at Harcourt House, the official residence of the president of ǿմý, with their dog, Adelbert. They are parents to two adult sons and grandparents to two granddaughters.
