Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our research team as a Research Associate in the field of Neural Engineering. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members to design and conduct experiments related to interfacing with neural tissue in the somatic and autonomic nervous system, particularly in cancer tumors and nerves. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of neural engineering and make significant advancements in our understanding of neural systems and their applications.

Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in a discipline related to biomedical engineering, neural engineering, or electrical engineering.
  2. Proven research experience in signal processing, machine learning, bioinstrumentation, and cancer research.
  3. Strong fundamental knowledge of physiology, cell biology, and electrical engineering.
  4. Proficiency in MATLAB programming.

Responsibilities:

  1. Designing and conducting experiments: The Research Associate will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing experiments involving the interfacing of neural tissue in somatic and autonomic nervous systems, with a particular focus on cancer tumors and nerves. This will involve the design of electrodes, electronics circuits, as well as data analysis and signal processing.

  2. Animal models: The work will involve the use of animal models for experimentation. The Research Associate will be expected to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and maintain animal welfare throughout the experimental procedures.

  3. Protocol development and scientific writing: The Research Associate will be responsible for developing experimental protocols, documenting procedures, and analyzing the obtained data. Additionally, they will be expected to contribute to the writing of scientific papers for publication in reputable journals, ensuring accurate and comprehensive reporting of the research findings.

  4. Mentoring and collaboration: The Research Associate will play a vital role in mentoring and guiding graduate and undergraduate students involved in the laboratory. They will provide technical support, share expertise, and contribute to the growth and development of the research team.
