We are incredibly proud to announce that department chair Hope Barkoukis, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND received the Case Medal for Excellence in Health Science Innovation. This well-deserved honor recognizes Dr. Barkoukis' impactful contributions to nutrition and wellness education, research and practice.
Dean Stan Gerson presented the award during the School of Medicine's State of the School on November 6, 2024 and it was announced to the university community via the Daily in a November 15 article linked below. At the State of the School, Dean Gerson remarked on Dr. Barkoukis' work and impact:
“Hope is recognized nationally for her remarkable efforts in educating all of us around the importance of food as medicine and the scientific emotional geographic, ethnic, and climate change issues associated with nutrition and health,” said School of Medicine Dean Stan Gerson. “The impact of her innovative nutrition design and intervention research and programs have helped patients, students and colleagues, making her so deserving of this award.”
