Psoriasis Center of Research Translation (CORT)

The Psoriasis Center of Research Translation (CORT) is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases.  The goal of the Center is to advance translational discovery and application in psoriasis using a novel approach that tightly integrates and coordinates health informatics research, basic research, and preclinical research with cutting-edge systems biology, patient-centered data mining, and advanced meta-analytics. The CORT sponsors innovative research focused on these areas (see also: ) through its Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) program.

Eligibility and Conditions

The CORT plans to support two meritorious P&F projects for funding for one year with an annual budget of $15,000. Projects are supported with the understanding that the PI will subsequently apply for NIH or equivalent funding using preliminary data acquired during the P&F project period. Funding for a second year may be available to current awardees upon a progress report and submission of a second application. They must fall into two categories:

  1. Established investigators (in skin diseases or other relevant associated co-morbidities) with a proposal for testing the feasibility of a new or innovative idea that is likely to advance the Psoriasis CORT.
  2. New investigators with a psoriasis CORT-advancing proposal who have not been principal investigators in a past or current NIH research project grant (R01, R21, and P series). New investigators should be early in their career development and have a faculty appointment higher than that of postdoctoral fellow or research associate.

The CORT P&F Program is a collaborative arrangement with the CTSC, which can enhance the value of your award using a matching Core Utilization Grant:
