Legbel A. Ekpata, MD, MBE, is a Research Associate in the Department of Bioethics and a Clinical Ethicist for the Center for Biomedical Ethics at MetroHealth Medical Center.
Dr. Ekpata holds a BS in Physiology from the University of Calabar, an MBChB from the University of Ghana, and an MS in Bioethics from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Ekpata has extensive clinical experience as a medical doctor at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (RIDGE) and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital(KBTH). She has also served as a Remote Health Advisor for COVID-19 at Psycorps Ghana, and as an HIV & AIDS Peer Educator for the National Youth Service Corps, for which she received a Certificate of Excellence for Meritorious Service.

Dr. Ekpata’s research interests focus on pediatric ethics, end-of-life decision making, and narrative ethics, all of which drive her passion for addressing complex ethical issues in healthcare and exploring the power of storytelling in ethical decision making.
