Inspired by the exhibition of “Creation and (Re)Birth” at the Cleveland Museum of Art, on view through July 27, this lecture examines how visual artists throughout history have presented unique views on the creation of the universe, our relationship to divine beings, how our different faiths guide our moral compass, and our concepts of an afterlife. The art of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and ancient civilizations have all contributed to the visualization of these concepts and demonstrate not only their differences but also a surprising unity of belief between them.
