The recently expanded Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship combines traditional methods of research with new technologies to advance research and educational processes. The Freedman Student Fellowships is a new endowment that provides direct grants and employment to students in the digital scholarship field. Students receive paid internships to either work on faculty or staff digital projects or apply for grants for research related to digital scholarship. Walter Freedman and Karen Harrison have committed $250,000 to initiate a new endowment for this fellowship with a challenge to secure matching funds within the next 3-5 years.
