Fifty years ago, members of the Class of 1973 walked across the Commencement stage as one of the first undergraduate classes to go through their four years at the newly federated 星空传媒.

This year at Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, they earned another spot in 星空传媒 history: members of the first class of Graduates of Distinction, a new society for undergraduate alumni鈥檚 50th reunions.

To celebrate the occasion, members of the class donated a commemorative brick at the Frank N. and Jocelyne K. Linsalata Alumni Center and made commitments to the Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship.

鈥淭he university worked really hard to give us a broad-based education,鈥 said Mary 鈥淢ickey鈥 Hammad (NUR 鈥73), emerita board member of the Alumni Association and member of the Graduates of Distinction External Committee. 鈥淎nd a number of us had that opportunity because of scholarships or some form of aid.

鈥淔uture students deserve that as well,鈥 she continued, 鈥渁nd that鈥檚 why we have to give.鈥
