Where They Are Now: Igor Tutelman

In 2020, COVID-19 shutdowns prevented ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ students from working their summer internships. In response to the problem, the Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship created the Remote Entrepreneurship Project (REP) Program, pairing students with startups across the country for a remote internship experience. Many of those students have since graduated from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and have made strides in their careers. See how the REP program impacted their career trajectory.

What are you up to now?

Senior Financial Analyst at Cleveland Clinic and a CPA 👨â€ðŸ’¼

How did your time as an REP intern impact your career trajectory?

It was the summer of entrepreneurship for me. I had a chance to try something non-traditional for a MAcc student and it showed me a different way to approach my career.

Before you applied for the REP program, did you have another internship planned that was impacted by COVID?

Yes, I was supposed to intern with PwC International Tax Services in Chicago but I ended up only interning remotely for 2 weeks there. I filled the rest of my summer with REP and FedTech x NASA startup studio.

How did ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, REP and other ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ programs prepare you for your work now?

Immensely… needed my BS & MS to get my CPA. Needed the startups to apply the knowledge. I had the opportunity to found, run, pivot, pivot, run, pivot, run, and exit a company over the span of a few years. ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ gave me the foundation and basic principles I needed to succeed, and entrepreneurship gave me a sandbox to test out all my tools years before these kinds of projects and analyses would come up in my actual career.
