In this earnest and refreshing documentary, the paths of three tenacious athletes converge at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games. In addition to training for the Games’ first-ever triathlon, Trent Hampton, Melanie Holmes, and Chris Wines hope to conquer the harmful stereotypes and misconceptions accompanying their disabilities. In Abu Dhabi—the Games’ first host in the Middle East—the trio is met with exhilarating victories and crushing disappointments. While the excitement, camaraderie, and spotlight accompanying the Games leave the athletes on a high, the return home is somewhat sobering. Facing new challenges, Trent, Melanie, and Chris carry their freshly bolstered confidence to confront them head-on.
