a portrait of Malachi Levy, a black man

Malachi Levy [pictured here], a rising junior majoring in English at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, initially hesitated to pursue his passion for writing. However, his time at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ changed his perspective on a future in the humanities. Now, he’s on track for a career in journalism.

Malachi credits the opportunity to do research at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ for helping him decide on his career path. Exploring 400-year-old manuscripts and immersing himself in the research of these writers allowed him to discover connections between thinkers throughout history, ranging from Oscar Wilde to Kendrick Lamar.

Malachi's ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ journey has also been enriched by guidance and mentorship from faculty, who go above and beyond to ensure students have access to a range of opportunities that build their skills and confidence. “My professor showed me the joy of being passionate about your writing. He gave me a new perspective that you can't really learn unless you dive into it.â€

Envision yourself studying the artssocial sciences or humanities; doing research, being championed by faculty and staff to follow your passions, and thriving in the vibrant academic community at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.
