Postdoctoral Scholar – Cancer Research
Marketing statement: Postdoctoral Scholar positions are available immediately in the Department of Medicine, MetroHealth Medical Center Cancer Research, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine. The Postdoctoral Scholar will plan and execute NIH-sponsored cancer and infection research in the context of HIV in Dr. Ge Jin's laboratory, located in the MetroHealth Research Institute, the MetroHealth System, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Postdoctoral Scholar will plan and execute NIH-sponsored cancer and infection research in the context of HIV with adequate supervision by the principal investigator (PI) and senior Research Associate in the laboratory. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work in a team environment on projects related to exosomes, cancer biology, immunology, and infectious diseases as well as the role of HIV in cancer progression. This person is responsible for contributing data for grant proposals/submission and scientific publications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Independently design and perform experimental work in the area of characterization of exosomes derived from cell cultural supernatants and body fluids of human donors, analysis of immune and cellular responses of cancer cells to exosomes, and the detection of cancer cells in vivo using animal models with live animal imaging, tissue section imaging, flow cytometry as well as RNAseq analysis (60%), characterization of exosomes in the plasma and saliva of donors (25%), infectivity of Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and human papillomavirus (HPV) in response to exosomes (10%), and manuscript preparation (5%).
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To coordinate with investigators outside of the lab, participate in lab meetings, interact with the department offices and outside vendors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Postdoctoral Scholar will report to Ge Jin, PhD, Professor, Department of Medicine, MetroHealth Medical Center Cancer Research, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Doctoral degree(s) with at least 0 – 2-year postdoc training in molecular biology, immunology, and/or cancer biology.
